Mission: conversion of an unused guest room to work from home office and imbibing lounge.
Inspiration: limited edition print of “The Salon of Oluchi Oneya and Leenos The Forgiving” by renowned artist Shawn Theodore. Afromythology and lore set the tone for the design schematics. The room is Dark and moody in a deep eggplant/purple ColorStory using plants and a graphic black and white print for contrast.
We added vintage elements were possible because the home is in a historic Southside neighborhood and dates back to the 1890s. It’s a brooding greystone with dark wood elements that we painted to match the walls in a high gloss sheen. The writing desk was custom designed by our firm but made by a local furniture maker here. The legs are solid walnut with an ebony stain and the top is walnut veneer.
The art work is from significant artists such as Bisa Butler, Shawn Theodore and Florine Desmothine. The lighting is a custom design from Blueprint Lighting.
