The concept for this bar/entertaining area combines classical and stately detailing as seen in other parts of the home, with a dramatic coastal palette, creating a stunning result that is conversely intimate and expansive. The original octagonal footprint with its 30’ diameter in the lounge invoked design principles of rhythm, repetition, and scale as the ceiling soffits were offset inside the octagon and around its perimeter to reinforce and delineate the shape. In-plaster wall washers and linear strips are used throughout. Radiant heating Pex tubes are concealed inside the vitrine tower cabinets. The soffit over the bars was created to enclose the new HVAC system, and perfectly aligned with the intersection of the floating vitrines below.

The door style was custom designed with a gold insert filler as well as the pulls and knob hardware with their varied lengths and detailing. Custom octagonal backplates with hand peening were added to the drawer pulls to repeat the shape and draw in the geometric elements from the lounge area. There are six different countertop/backsplash surfaces, and the sinks are solid bronze. The faucets have custom finishes, with a 24 karat gold finish on the P.E. Guerin bar sink faucet.
