Holland Hiills
Nestled in the Holland Hills neighborhood of Basalt, Colorado, this remodel and addition to an 1980s Lindal Cedar A-Frame kit home revitalized the property and dramatically improved the livability of the residence. The existing three level home was approximately 2500 square feet of cramped living spaces with 4 small bedrooms. With a 600 square foot addition above the garage, the home was brought up to a much more comfortable layout with a great room double the original size, a proper master suite, 2 additional en-suite bedrooms, and a family/ sitting room at both secondary levels. The great room was expanded by taking over a majority of the main level, while the ceiling was allowed to raise due the structural implications of matching the upper level floor to the addition over the garage. Fenestration was added to capture views and add light, also adding to the drama of the great room. The original entry was non-descript as well as poorly located, so a more formal entry was added to improve both the building aesthetics and functionality of the space.
