River Brook Design & Construction
306 La Prado Circle
Working in a historic neighborhood of Birmingham, the Hollywood district of Homewood, many of the homes have a Spanish Colonial Revival Style. Working in historic Hollywood gave River Brook the opportunity to design something contextual while also setting a new precedent. Throughout this project we were committed to using authentic materials. They transcend any time period and allow you to design something that stands the test of time, ageless and modern. The rear wall of the kitchen is comprised of large unobstructed bank of windows surrounded by a wall of stone (Calcutta Macchia Vecchia Hones marble from Italy). The Wolf flush insert specially designed to exhaust air from 7+ feet from the surface, takes away the need for a traditional hood and allowed for the design to to maintain a more sleek modern look. Within the kitchen we made lamps out of old 19th century olive jars from Egypt. A commissioned piece by, up and coming artist, Joe Turner, pulls out the warm tones in the wood cabinetry and the beautiful Calcutta marble. Layering antique and modern elements, as well as cherished collected heirloom pieces, make a space feel intentional and balanced.
