Tombolo
Tombolo was conceived as a holistic design, where architecture and interiors were developed as one seamless narrative. Inside, the residence unfolds as a series of curated vignettes inspired by Josef Albers’ exploration of nested geometries. Like squares within squares, each room is defined as a composition in itself, yet always part of a larger rhythm that guides movement and experience.
Interiors are richly layered, balancing precision with warmth. Patinated metals, carved wood, reflective wallcoverings, and soft upholstered surfaces create depth and variety, inviting touch as much as sight. Corridors and galleries are activated as experiential sequences rather than mere transitions, furnished moments punctuated by art, sculpture, and framed light. Natural illumination plays a central role, with windows, courtyards, and skylights orchestrated to end each journey in connection to desert views, gardens, or open sky.
The kitchen, anchored by a 13-foot La Cornue range, is treated as a ceremonial centerpiece. The primary suite, guest areas, and social spaces continue this approach, each offering unique atmospheres within the overall composition.
In Tombolo, interiors are not an afterthought but the very medium of storytelling, a journey of texture, light, and proportion that embodies immersive design from conception to completion.
