The Contemporary Elegance residence in Portola Valley was envisioned as a modern sanctuary where architecture, art, and nature converge. Designed in collaboration with Swatt + Partners, the home’s expansive glass walls dissolve the boundary between indoors and out, framing sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. This integration became the inspiration for the interiors: a sophisticated yet understated backdrop that honors both the natural setting and the client’s curated art collection.

The interiors were crafted with a restrained palette of natural materials, allowing light, texture, and form to take precedence. Sculptural furnishings, custom millwork, and tailored textiles were selected to complement—not compete with—the architecture or the art. Layered lighting solutions highlight key pieces while enhancing warmth and intimacy throughout the home.

Notable features include the seamless flow between living, dining, and kitchen areas, designed to foster connection while showcasing panoramic views; the subtle integration of an office space within the living area; and the thoughtful balance of modern precision with natural warmth, achieved through wood paneling, curated art, and bespoke detailing.
