Effervescent Edge
This lakeside home was a study in restraint, rhythm, and sensory design, created for a couple who valued timelessness over trend and experience over excess. Inspired by their Napa vineyard, the interiors translated the art of winemaking into architecture: measured, layered, and intentional. Because the client was colorblind, every space was designed to be felt rather than seen, using contrast, proportion, and texture to create depth where color could not.
From the kitchen, which was fully outfitted with custom hidden cabinetry, to the primary suite bathroom that we anchored in Crystallo Blue quartzite, light became the unifying thread, reflecting across surfaces like water and glass. The bedroom invited calm through velvet, marble, and custom craftsmanship, while the bar and wine lounge celebrated the couple’s roots with backlit stone, metallic finishes, and tactile materials that shimmered without saturation.
Inherited architectural constraints required innovation, from refinishing slippery imported floors to retrofitting custom Canadian lighting and integrating subtle aging-in-place features. The result was a home that balanced luxury with livability, minimalism with meaning. Every detail served a purpose, and every surface told a story. Together, they created a home that did not simply showcase design but embodied it.
