Sunbathing With A View

The design concept centers on recreating the serene experience of relaxing outdoors under the sun in a hammock. A suspended hammock style tub became the anchor of this vision. A floor-to-ceiling picture window behind the tub floods the space with natural light and frames the pastoral Virginia landscape—quite literally creating the epitome of sunbathing indoors.

The material palette delivers the moody sophistication the clients craved. Dramatic stone creates a focal wall in both the open concept shower and separate steam shower, while smoky charcoal porcelain tile ground the space with depth. Taupe-stained floating cabinetry add just the right amount of warmth without compromising the elevated aesthetic. Black penny round tile was used to frame the backlit vanity mirrors, creating intentional texture contrast and depth. Sculptural fixtures and ambient lighting infuse layers of warmth throughout.

The result is a primary retreat that redefines relaxation—a sanctuary for sunbathing with a view where the boundaries between interior luxury and outdoor tranquility dissolve, inviting daily rituals of rest and rejuvenation.
