Mount Hood House
Across the Columbia River Mount Hood rises on the near horizon. Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge are a presence in this house. The shape of the house was crafted to make sure that these iconic views grace every room. With three bedrooms, exercise room, family room, den and great room, the Mount Hood House was designed for active living. The owner, a writer, was drawn to the active lifestyle so common in this area. Wind surfing, kayaking, running and climbing opportunities abound within a short drive of the Mount Hood House. Across the Hood River Canyon, vineyards grace the hillside providing a foreground for the everchanging weather that flows up the Columbia. When not out experiencing these surroundings, the owner and her friends and family nestle into cozy spaces for living, working and entertaining. The great room opens onto an expansive deck on the upper floor. The family room sits below the great room in a daylight basement. Lower-level decks flow into the lower site to the hot tub and robust fire wise landscaping. Mount Hood House was designed with high quality sustainability in mind and performs exceptionally well.
